Connecting to the weather
Apr 27th, 2007 by David Wechsler
Over the past few months I have noticed an extreme connection to the weather, especially the cool, the dark, or the damp days. Days in the past that I would not like for some reason or another - connection with being “under the weather”, or labelling the weather as “bad outside”. I am now discovering the freshness of such conditions - how nice it is to really “feel” the wind, the cold, and the dampness, along with the smell of the earth, the ground, and so on. It’s really quite wonderful once you connect with it.
Also, last night while shoveling my pile of leaves into a compost heap till well after dark, I realized that I was no longer afraid of the dark in nature (I just thought about the line Chunk says in the Goonies - I love the dark, but I hate nature) - anyway, I love them both and once I opened myself to the possibility of benevolent energies coming forth from the darkness, from the trees, and from the wet slimy ground - and surrendering and loving them - it felt wonderful.
