More Benevolent Outcomes
Apr 9th, 2006 by David Wechsler
I recently returned from a trip to Cape Town, South Africa where my wife and I underwent IVF treatments. We tried it once before in the US, and despite being extremely costly, it just didn’t work. This time, we decided to go to Cape Town since we’ve been to South Africa before (for a wedding last year), we had an extra ticket from a ticketing problem at the time, and some people in the blogging community raved about some of the doctors down there. We were really pleased with the better quality of care and the price - the whole treatment was about 1/4 of the USA price. When plane tickets , hotel and food are included, it comes out to approximately half of the US price. It’s very inexpensive there for Americans!
Aside from the trip, there were a few items of note from a MBO (most benevolent outcome) point of view. 1) I asked spirit to give me the opportunity to meet people of like mind while I was on this trip. It turned out that the manager of the B&B that we stayed at was totally on the same level as my wife & I, as she was one of the organizers of the Earth Water Fire Air Festival down there in 2005. We got along really well… she introduced us to one of her good friends who was spiritually attuned also and we spent one night sharing alot of wisdom. It was great. We also learned about some of the indiginous healers (mystic/shaman), the Sangoma, as one of her friends is a Sangoma-in-training.
2) I had to extend my stay down there because the hormones weren’t causing my wife’s follicles to grow in size fast enough. Fine, but when I went to change my ticket to a week later, it turned out that there were no flights available for the next 2 weeks. And the only option at the time was to spend an additional $2600 for a new ticket. So as I prepared for the financial sting, I had a revelation… I was going to ask for a MBO. Two days later my travel agent called me saying that if I extend my stay by 1.5 more days, I could use my original ticket and just pay the $200 ticket change fee. Wow!
3) When it came time for me to leave, I asked for a MBO w.r.t. meeting the right people for my growth on the plane. So for one flight I sat next to a very interesting woman who was director of a couple of burn units at some Cape Town hospitals. We talked at length about South Africa politics, social uplifting, tribal matters, etc and it was extremely educational. I also met a very cool lawyer on the way home who in addition to being Jewish (I invited him over for Shabbat), was a very active social activist who shared some wisdom and answered all of my questions about getting involved in social causes.
4) When I arrived for customs, I was carrying some small pieces of meat that I wanted to give my boss as a souvenir. I learned that I was not allowed to carry it through and if the customs officer asked me I wasn’t going to lie (and he would have asked for it to be removed). So I asked for a MBO and when I got to the head of the inspection line, he just asked for my customs declaration form and didn’t ask me any questions, even though he asked everyone ahead of me direct questions about meats, seeds, etc. Perfect.
On a final note, I spoke to a clear-channeller person that’s been a friend of some of my best friends in town, and one of the things that my “higher-spirit” told me was that the IVF procedure was going to work this time (amongst other things). This Friday is the day of our pregnancy test - I can’t wait for it to be validated!
I’ll let you know what happens…
Update (April 2006): It didn’t work… I don’t know why. One channeller person said that she in some way didn’t want it (that’s hard to believe though, big time). Another friend of mine told me that despite having many positive signs, the energies around us are changing rapidly. Perhaps that’s the reason.
Anyway, my next post will talk about a cool miracle that happened next…
